A week has now gone by during which I’ve been a remote apprentice. The past few weeks I’ve had several transitioning meetings, several follow-up meetings, a conference call and many emails. With that and a full time job I’ve noticed that I’ve been burdening myself with carrying around a seven pounds laptop. When it comes down to it though, I’d rather be ready to research, reply to an e-mail and ultimately be prepared than be practical and lazy.
Despite all the access available to us today on our smart phones and tablets, a laptop or PC offer just that much more. The biggest difference is the multiple tasks option you get from using computers. I can run several applications, tabs, and have several documents open at the same time. Computers are very convenient in regards to their usage, but again they’re quite impractical in regards to their battery life and size/weight.
All in all, this day and age is luring us into becoming lazy and practical. However, my personal, perfectionist like, standards force me to make that extra effort, carry the computer (with its cords and tens of accompanying papers). I chose to carry the somewhat heavy machine in order to be prepared for whatever task I may come by.
