Career or Job? Choose your passion…James Freeman

Most people go to college to find a career. In my case, I personally would love to stay at this arcade, where I’m getting paid under 30K annually. The pay is terrible (for my current debt situation, which is about 70K) but I LOVE WHAT I DO.  I have responsibilities that allow me to make large changes at this company. I currently run and control all food operations in the arcade. Having that kind of power makes me feel wanted, needed, and accomplished at the end of the day…

I could always go and be a database administrator or a network analyst, but would I really enjoy it? The money would be much better, and the job would probably have more room for promotional opportunities, but after the money would I love what I do? I can tell you the answer would probably be no. I would go in like a robot, mess with a database for 8 hours, and leave Monday through Friday. My current job has an always changing schedule and always has something new to learn.

The main reason I tell people to follow what you love, is because you’ll never be disappointed to come to work. You won’t dread your shifts, nor would you feel like you’re even working. Passion for your workplace outweighs almost any amount of money a job that you’d dislike pays you. Following a passion enables you to live a life that you love, without ever having to work a day in your life.
