If I had a mission statement for my life, it would be to stick with what I’m passionate about. This is true for everything in my life, whether it concerns work, relationships, and hobbies. Life is too short to do things that you’re not passionate about. It’s not only a waste of time for you, but also for everyone else around you if you pursue things that don’t make you excited.
If you’re working at a job that you hate, your work will suffer as a result of that. You’ll be depressed, and not very pleasant to work around. If you’re in a relationship with someone that you don’t love anymore, than you’re only wasting time that you could be spending with someone that could truly make a difference in your life. When you’re doing something, or with someone that you’re passionate about, you’ll be happier, more confident, and a pleasure for people to meet and be around. You’ll do your best work, and contribute more to society as a whole.
Unfortunately, most people worry too much about what others will think of them, and fail to pursue what they love. They can distract themselves by taking another job, getting in another relationship, or indulging in intoxicating substances, but this will only cover the problem for only so long. It’s too easy to do what everyone else does, and very hard to follow your own path. But once you pursue that which excites you, you’ll be happier than you’ve ever been.
