I keep up with social media news and changes through many blogs and podcasts. There are so many social media blogs, however, that the quantity of information can appear endless. I do tend to stick to some of the more popular ones, and supplement by following bloggers and curators on Twitter, where I can view their shared links.
Mashable has so much information and keeps up with current events and social media news. If you are into social media and don’t read Mashable, start now. This blog employs hoards of writers for everything from development and design to startups, but emphasizes social media.
One of my favorite sources of business social media news is the weekly podcast Social Media Serenity. I also find great value in the Business Tech Weekly podcast produced by the same company. These podcasts can’t cover everything happening each week in social media, being only one hour long. What they do, though, is discuss some of the major news and offer opinions and unique perspective.
Other blogs I read include: Ignite Social Media, Soshable, and The Brandbuinder Blog.
These blogs often keep me busy and informed, but I when I want to read something with a different voice, I will turn to Twitter links or even to google searches. Sometimes these can lead to some less than great blogs, but the need to sift through the bad to get to the good just comes with the territory.
