New Mind and Dedication at iMADdu…by Alinah Mphofe

I hope to bring a new mind and dedication. Once you enter an environment as humans we learn to adapt and continue to strive. I don’t just want to adapt into the team, I want to help evolve the team.

When I worked at the computer store I was the youngest employee. Even though I didn’t have a lot of experience I had the determination and want to learn. I would help install software on a computer, fill out invoices and input them. I would run scans on the computers/laptops. I helped out by ordering supplies for the store and making sure they got to the office on time. The same thing went for making appointments and making sure one of the technicians got there on time. If they were running late I would call the customer to let them know that the technician was on his way or that he was delayed by traffic.  Opening the door open for a customer to come in or leave with their hardware is common courtesy but customers are always thankful. I’m not really a good communicator and I’m almost always nerves. With more interactions within my group I’m sure I’ll be better in no time!

In the past, the work I was given was tough. I didn’t have the support I needed and couldn’t ask questions to learn. Now I have people who have similar work like I do and don’t feel pressured to know everything and get it done. If I need help I can always ask. Of course I don’t want to be dependent and adapt this trait, but I do want to be able to communicate and work with others instead of trying to figure everything out by myself. Sometimes the best feeling in life is knowing you can ask for help instead falling into the dark.
